“Hello Donna! Just a random question, I just wanted to ask you, what are the 7 places that you really would want to visit? And who, among your most favorite Asian male characters would you bring in each place and why? I know I'm asking too much but I hope you answer. Thanks a lot! Btw, I love your blog big time.”

Ohhhhh… I love this question!

I would mostly start with the places that i haven’t been to yet namely:

1.  Tokyo

image

Theme parks, theme parks everywhere! Since i’m really a kid at heart, I would love to add Tokyo Disneyland among the list of the Disneylands that i have visited, then perhaps spend a day or two at Legoland and make all my little girl fantasies and dreams come true in Sanrioland.

For shopping, i would love to visit Harajuku where the most fashionable and avant garde youngsters of Tokyo hang out and enjoy people watching, and if it’s Cherry Blossom season, perhaps go a little farther than the city and enjoy a romantic walk holding hands with the male character i’d love to bring there, Baby Faced Beauty’s Choi Jin Wook.

image

I just have a feeling that i’ll have the most fun visiting this place with him mostly because his mischievous and sweet side seem to fit the young, hip and fun vibe of Japan.  I’m pretty sure that he would be a fun companion on those theme park rides, a funny conversationalist while we’re having some downtime eating sushi and i bet i’d have a grand old time cuddling up with him when evening comes around and the air gets nippy.

2.  London

image

The double decker red buses, the British accent, Buckingham Palace, tea and crumpets at the Ritz Carlton, not to mention all the brands i love like Debenhams, Topshop and Selfridge’s (and oh god, don’t even get me started on how i salivate whenever i even so much as hear the name Harrod’s)  London is one city i’d love to visit mostly because i love the fact how everything in this city seems so refined and cultured.

This is one city that seems to be way ahead of its time and yet retains that old world charm and tradition, mostly because i think, it still upholds the monarchy and i have always been fascinated by royalty so i just have this feeling that this city would charm the socks off of me.

For London, i would love to bring Boys Over Flowers Yoon Ji Hoo

image

His understated, quiet elegance is almost like having my own Prince William by my side and besides i’m pretty sure he would rock all those double breasted trench coats that he wears with such panache that he would look right at home among the genteel Brits that proliferate the streets of this city.

3. Sydney

image

Mostly for the beaches and the blonde, blue eyed, athletic surfer dudes that frequent those beaches.

However if i will really be given the chance to bring In Time With You’s Li Da Ren to this place, i doubt if i’d even have time for them because i’m pretty sure i would just be mooning over him the whole time.

image

There’s just a casual, laid back feel to this city that seem to fit Da Ren’s personality.

Primarily, because with him, there is no need to do anything special because he already makes you feel as if you’re the most adored woman in the universe.

I could imagine ourselves just sitting at the edge of Bondi Beach looking at the sunset while having deep, meaningful conversations about love and life and we would spend lazy, sun filled days just casually strolling around the shops while holding hands which we would cap off with a shared beer while staring at each others eyes at one of those pubs that overlook the harbour.

4.  The Hague

image

I’ve heard a lot of good things about The Hague from some of my colleagues who have already been there, the city being the place where my company houses it’s mother ship but personally, i would like to visit the city because it is a study in contrast of being a tranquil, peaceful, idyllic city and yet it is also wild and dangerous at the same time.

For mornings, i would just love to marvel at the architecture of the dutch colonial inspired buildings overlooking the canals or perhaps visit one of those tulip fields while leisurely biking, and in the evening, Han Gil Ro of Grade 7 Civil Servant and i would adventurously explore and immerse ourselves in the unknown of the hustle and bustle of the red light district.

I think he is just the perfect companion to be with on my tour of this city because just like how the city has two sides to it, Gil Ro is also a curious study in terms of personality.

Sweet, innocent, trusting and childlike one moment and then all man the next with his raging libido and hot headed temper.

Having said that and with the activities i mentioned above in mind, i’m sure you can already picture how we’d put our time to good use in the mornings and how after seeing all that sexiness and erotic influence that we curiously explored in the evenings, i am keeping my fingers crossed that that would be enough to bring out his beastly instincts so we can put our evenings to even better use than how we did in the morning.

For numbers 5 - 7, these are that places that i have been to either once or numerous times but which i’d love to visit again and again and again:

5. Los Angeles, California

The city where my mom permanently resides in, of course is it any wonder that i would love to bring Kang Ji Wook of Scent of a Woman here because he’s just the type of guy that one can bring home to momma.

I just feel that he would most definitely bring out the Lee Yeon Jae in me, not with the cancer but with all those shopping trips that we’d have at Beverly Hills, The Grove or The Americana, the theme park visits in Anaheim where i would not look for an ex but dedicate my whole time to just enjoying my time with him and of course in the evening, I would take him to the observatory and hope that there is a firework display somewhere out there so we can share a kiss similar to what he has shared with Yeon Jae at the Han Gang.

Urbane, polished and sophisticated with good looks that can probably earn him a stare or two even with the highly good looking population of a city where would be actors litter the street, There is just something about Kang Ji Wook that makes me think LA and how he would just fit in.

6. Macau

When i visited this city there was just one person who crossed my mind and it was Goo Junpyo of Boys Over Flowers.  Now, can you blame me for wanting to visit this city again with this man by my side?

Despite the angst of the breakup that he’s had with Jandi while standing on that Venice inspired bridge inside the hotel that was The Venetian which in the drama was supposedly his, there is still that desire within me to explore this small city with him because it is a city of excess, grandeur and opulence and it just seems to encompass everything that he is.

I can just imagine us going around the city in style like one of those high rollers that proliferate the city. Maybe in a limo, maybe in a helicopter but i sure as hell would enjoy every minute of it not just because i am travelling and seeing the city in style but mostly because beside me stand the richest and most good looking eye candy.

7. Seoul

Oh Seoul, how i love thee!

I may have visited this city several times but i swear i never get tired of it.

No matter how many times i’ve been, it seems like this city always offers me something new whenever i visit.

More than the shopping in Apgujeongdong and Myeongdong, the Kalbi Jims and Samgyetangs that i pig out on, it’s really the romantic vibe of the city that draws me in.

There’s just something about the tree lined streets and quaint stores in Samcheongdong that begs you to explore it with a loved one, the cute interiors and warm vibe that the cafes and shops in Garosugil give which seems perfect for a surprise proposal, i can only think of Han Jin Hyun of My Name of Kim Sam Soon to be with if i were ask to choose among my most favorite male drama leads.

Not only because he lives in the city and i’m sure knows it like the back of his hand that he can show me something new, but mostly because i would love to recreate that romantic kiss that he had with Sam Soon on the steps of Nam San and i’m sure that my life would be complete, i don’t even need the 93 places more that i should visit before i die.

Seriously, this meme is contradictory.
How can i keep calm when i’m dating this guy, albeit mentally?
I tell you I’m currently having an anapoleptic seizure even if i am just thinking about it now.

“yes, everything is perfection, the storyline, the dialouge askdasdjaisjd so many feels right now. what's your favorite scene at itwy?”
-Anonymous

Everything that was episode 13 most definitely but i have one every episode because that’s just how great this show is.

To name it one by one:

Episode 1: Maggie turning around flirtatiously on episode 1 but it Da Ren was imagining that she was You Qing.

Episode 2: The way that the bond and closeness of You Qing and Da Ren was depicted with the simplicity and starkness of them doing everyday chores together like her shopping for sanitary pads with him in tow and pooping while talking to him from the other side of the bathroom door without any discomfort or hesitation.

And do i even have to mention THIS SCENE accompanied by THIS DIALOGUE?

Do you know I spent a lifetime to learn one thing. Possession is the beginning of losing it. But at the end  I still couldn’t learn, I can’t accept having youth, is actually the beginning of losing youth. Having a marriage is actually the beginning of losing the marriage. Having reputation, it can also be lost. Having wealth is also the same. Heath is also the same. Even raising a dog is the same. Possession of love …losing a loved one is harder to accept. Why is it that everything I pursue in life, I start losing it, as soon as I gain possession of it. If I don’t have it, then I won’t have anything to lose.

Now do you know the reason I don’t love you?
Because possession is the beginning of losing.

Those words.

UGH.

This scene made me cry so much because as early as episode 2 the writer was already able to establish how deep Da Ren’s love was for You Qing in unconditional ways that is far more deeper than one can ever imagine.

Episode 3 - Da Ren leaving his girlfriend behind right away and travelling all the way to Tai Chung from Taipei when You Qing was distressed about Nick just to be by her side.

Episode 4 - They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so… THIS.

The way they laughed together and looked at each other during this scene?

That cut me to the core man.

‘Nuff said.

Episode 5 - I’d let the dialogue do the talking.

“Cheng You Qing I finally came to a common ground with Ding Li Wei… You are a book worth reading over and over again”.

Episode 6 - Da Ren breaking up with Maggie and telling her flat out that he can’t love her because he’s always been in love with You Qing.

This scene too because it is one of those rare times where You Qing lets her emotions take over and the way she looked at Da Ren made butterflies appear in my stomach.

EPISODE 7 - The drama ups the angst factor moving forward as You Qing falls back into a relationship with Li Wei but there is a ray of sunshine in this episode when You Qing takes care of a sick Da Ren.

EPISODE 8 - How many men would be your beacon of strength when you are tired and give you motivation to go on when you feel as if you can’t anymore without asking anything in return? This is the time that i was already crazy in love with Da Ren. Is it any wonder that i wish for a man who’d also remove my make up for me when i’m too tired to move?

EPISODE 9 - The OTP having a raging tiff that scared me for awhile that it might be the end of everything and yet it hurts so good when it is shown how much they pine for each other.

I also loved the flashback that was shown of how Da Ren was o head over heels for You Qing and how he followed her even to university and i love seeing the whole history of how their friendship began.

EPISODE 10 - Da Ren’s send off party where their friends forced them to say they love each other and how the whole thing started with them in a cold war but it still ended with them flirting with each other without even being aware of it.

This was a very sad episode since we have Li Wei’s proposal, Da Ren’s departure and yet each and every single thing that happens feels like a punch to the gut and the hurt hurts so good that i just cannot never get enough.

EPISODE 11 - The hurt and pain in Da Ren’s eyes when You Qing accepted Li Wei’s proposal. The pain was so palpable, i was breathless with the extent of it.

EPISODE 12 - You Qing’s bachelorette party and her listening to Da Ren’s song and finally realizing that he’s the man for her while on the other hand, Da Ren waits for her in the rain conceding defeat and finally getting the courage to tell her in a letter how much he loves her. TEARS. ENDLESS TEARS. RIVERS OF ‘EM. Yes, that’s what i cried here.

EPISODE 13 - Like helloooooo? The entire episode and the numerous kisses and sweetness crammed in an hour and a half of goodness but still nothing beats the first one and the cuteness that followed of how they are now lovers but still the best of friends.

Looking back on it, every episode of this drama was a gem.

There was nothing that you’d throw away and every scene has a purpose that would make you think, reflect and remember how love can be the greatest thing of all but also the hardest.

The dialogues and directing were some of the best that i’ve ever seen in my entire drama watching life and for that in my heart, IN TIME WITH YOU will always be a favorite and a top contender.

“What's the most realistic drama you've ever watched?”
-Anonymous

Answer me 1997 and In Time With You hands down.

The relationships are so real and relatable from the parents to the siblings to the friendship down to the very last OTP in the whole drama.

There are a lot of circumstances and incidents in the whole series that might have happened to me at one time or to a friend or to someone i know and the conflicts are not too far fetched that i sometimes wonder if i know the writers of these dramas.

A sentiment that does not seem to be exclusive to me but also shared by the majority of those who are also in love with both of these series.

The scenes are not hysterically dramatic nor over the top, the lines are simple and everyday and yet it cuts you deep down to the core probably because it hits too close to home that your emotions and attachment to the characters are magnified a thousand fold.

Watching them both feels like a stroll down memory lane.

It makes me relive moments in my life where i have acted or could have acted the way the character does and where i wish i could have also done the same.
